Steamed Nectarine Puree Recipe

It’s recommended to get certified organic nectarines because they are among the 2016 EWG’s Dirty Dozen.

  1. Scrub 3 organic nectarines well in cool water.
  2. Peel them using a paring knife or peeler.
  3. Cut each nectarine in half by cutting around the nectarine, just deep enough to feel the pit with the knife.
  4. Twist the halves in opposite directions to separate.
  5. Pop the pits out of each nectarine using your fingers or knife.
  6. Cut each half into slices.
  7. Add 3 cups of water to the steamer saucepot and place the steam basket into the saucepot.
  8. Cover the steamer and set the temperature to med-high.
  9. Once the water is boiling, put the nectarine slices into the steamer basket and cover.
  10. Steam for 5 mins or until tender. Add more water if needed.
  11. Remove the nectarines from the steamer and place them into Vitamix or blender of your choice.
  12. Add 4 ounces of water from the saucepot (it contains a lot of nutrients) and 2 scoops of formula OR 4 ounces of breast milk.
  13. Blend until the puree can easily pour out of the blender into the ice cube trays.
  14. Add more water or breast milk if the puree is too thick.
